The 2024 Christmas stamp is a tribute to King Frederik X and Queen Mary. The motif marks a change of throne in Denmark, a tradition that dates back to 1907. This is the fifth time that a new royal couple has been honored on the stamp, and it is based on King Frederik X's motto: "Bound, bound, for the Kingdom of Denmark". The Christmas stamp connects us as a nation with symbols from Danish history, from Viking ships to the royal ship, the runes of the Jelling Stone to the letters of the Constitution, the celestial sign of the Sun Chariot to the Danish astronaut on a mission in space.
