A Christmas-loving family
Our own personal Christmas adventure began when we started Juleeventyr.com back in 2010.
Many years ago, Heidi visited a Christmas market in Germany. There she discovered a world of Christmas decorations that was unlike what you found in Danish department stores. Heidi became acquainted with the Dutch brand Luville, and she bought her first miniature house from them
– this would later become the beginning of a true passion for a Christmas village.
As a family we had a long-standing tradition of attending the large annual Christmas market at Vellingeblommar in Sweden. There we once again encountered Luville's fascinating universe. This also meant that our family's private Luville Christmas village steadily grew year after year by one or two houses.
The challenge came, however, when we returned home from the Christmas market: it was impossible to source Luville items when we wanted to supplement our expanding village with, for example, figures and trees. Therefore we personally contacted Luville, which is owned by Edelman in the Netherlands, with the aim of making our Christmas interest more widespread and accessible in Denmark.
From Christmas decorations to an online shop
We started Juleeventyr.com as a small shop that exclusively sold Luville. We attended the Christmas markets at Gavnø and Gisselfeld with all our products in the hope that Danes would be drawn to the wonderful items that had captivated us.
The Christmas market at Gavnø Slot is still a recurring event for us. We have had a stall at the market every year. Therefore, for two weekends in November you can still meet Juleeventyr at Gavnø Slot. We quickly discovered at the markets that there was a strong demand for snow globes, which naturally became our next step. The inspiration for our assortment has always come from our own favorite Christmas decorations and wishes. For example, it was difficult for us to find Christmas bells for our family's tree. We both remembered the bells from when we were children, so of course we wanted them to embellish our family's tree as well.
Unique selection
In addition, our assortment grew with, for example, Lemax and baby gnomes, as we also discovered that these were hard to find in Denmark. Until September 2019, we kept the entire Juleeventyr.com assortment in our private cellar, where we picked and packed orders. There were Christmas decorations everywhere, and we even needed a shipping container in the garden. After just a few years we had already outgrown our storage. With approximately 3,500 items in stock, you need plenty of space.
Back to where the whole story began, with Luville — we can now proudly call ourselves Scandinavia's largest retailer of Luville.
Family favorites
We are a family that has always cared deeply about Christmas. Even though the webshop has kept us busy during the season for the past 10 years, we all still enjoy it. Our five children each have their own boxes of decorations and their own Christmas village, so there are Christmas landscapes on every shelf, windowsill, and surface throughout the house.
We love decorating, building Christmas villages, the traditions around the season, and decorating the tree as a family with all our favorite glass baubles, most of which have their fixed places on the tree. And we have a huge tree.
Heidi's favorite decorations are three musician gnomes from Daells Varehus on Nørregade that have been passed down from grandmother to mother and now to Heidi. Baby gnomes are also one of Heidi's personal favorites, as they always make you smile with their cheerful faces. She still has many of them from when she was a child. Nicolaj's favorite Christmas decoration is the old winery from Luville, which unfortunately is no longer produced, but the small stalls — for example the gingerbread stall and the bierstube — are also among his favorites. As a family, we are especially fond of the beautiful hand-blown, handcrafted blue Christmas bells that we hang on the tree every year.
