Description
A small champagne-coloured bird has found a branch to settle on, and with its long, white feathered tail it is a pretty alternative to traditional Christmas baubles. The bird is mouth-blown from genuine glass and decorated with golden details that emphasize the wings and the small bird body. The light champagne colour gains a special wintry sheen from the fine Eislack finish, while the gold glitter gives a subtle sparkle when the Christmas tree lights catch the bird.
The bird comes from Glasbläserei Thüringer Weihnacht, where the traditional glassblowing craft from the Thüringer Wald is kept alive. Here, Christmas decorations are made with respect for the old artisanal techniques, and the mouth-blown glass figures are decorated by hand. The combination of glass, glitter and delicate details is part of the German tradition of decorative birds for the Christmas tree.
A small clip sits under the bird so it can be easily attached to the tree's branches. The long, soft feather tail falls gently backward and gives the bird an almost floating appearance. With an overall length of approx. 12 cm including feathers, it is also lovely on decorative branches or as part of a wintry Christmas display.
The birds are supplied in a box of four, so you can let them settle in different places on the tree. Combine them with glass baubles in champagne, gold and cream, or let them create a light contrast against dark green branches. The four small birds give the Christmas tree a touch of old-fashioned glass artistry and wintry elegance.
