Ribe Elves: Hans with Sled

When the snow settles over Ribe, Hans doesn’t take long to fetch the sled. He heads to the small hill by Slotsbanken, where he has slid down for more than three hundred winters. The sled is old and creaks along the way, but according to Hans it does so in exactly the right way. And if you hear laughter nearby, there’s a good chance he has just gone past.

Hans the Ribe elf from Ib Laursen is 9.1 cm tall and made of polyresin. He sits on his little wooden sled with one leg cheerfully lifted, wearing warm winter clothes, red mittens, a striped scarf and the classic elf hat. The movement in the figure makes Hans a lively little winter scene that looks sweet among spruce, artificial snow and other Ribe elves.

Hans is 342 Christmas Eves old and, of course, knows the route down and up Slotsbanken. On the way he passes the coal merchant’s gate, where people wave just as they have so many times before. Still, Hans never grows tired of the hill. There is always room for just one more run.
