Ribe Elf Sigurd with the Goose Gertrud

In a small half-timbered house close to the old forge lives Sigurd together with his faithful companion Gertrud. She is a little goose who has followed him since she herself was a gosling, and after so many years the two have become almost inseparable. When snow drifts up against the house walls in December, they still set out on their long walks together.

Ribenissen Sigurd from Ib Laursen stands holding Gertrud safely in his arms and is filled with fine details. He is dressed in patterned winter knit, red trousers, striped socks and the classic red nisse hat, while Gertrud wears a small red bow around her neck.

Sigurd is 411 Christmas Eves old, and on the walks along the moat he tells Gertrud all the Christmas secrets that only animals can understand. She hardly ever says anything back, but sometimes she nods. For Sigurd, that is answer enough.
