Visby tealight house with grass on the roof

Like a small Swedish wooden house, this ceramic house from Ib Laursen's Visby series features a green facade, a striking red door and white windows. The ceramic is shaped and glazed so the facade suggests wooden cladding, while the small details around the windows, roof and door give the house plenty to explore. The Visby series is inspired by traditional Swedish wooden houses and is therefore Ib Laursen's Swedish counterpart to the Ebeltoft series with the colorful Danish townhouses.

The ceramic house is intended for tealights. When the light is lit, a warm glow streams out through the small windows, giving the impression of light in a cozy house. Place it alone on a windowsill or on a shelf, or collect several ceramic houses from the Visby series and build a little Swedish street with different facades.

The colors make the house unusually versatile throughout the year. In summer, the green wooden house fits nicely among plants and light decorations, while the combination of green, red and white is almost made for Christmas. Here the house can stand among fir branches, small trees, cones and other Christmas decorations and become part of an atmospheric holiday display.

That way the Visby house doesn't need to be packed away with the Christmas decorations. It can follow the home decor year-round and simply change surroundings as the seasons change.
